Beach trip

We got to the beach on Sunday afternoon after an uneventful trip down. We made a couple of stops along the way to let Ryu run around a bit and to change/feed Kenji. We found an elementary school on our first stop, so John and Ryu played on the playground while I took care of Kenji.

Monday morning was nice, but windy, Here's Ryu racing for the water with Grandma D. close behind. This was his second trip down to the water. On his first outing to the beach Sunday evening he ran right for the water and was promptly knocked down by the surf. He got wet this time, too, as did Grandma, Kenji and me! The rest of the day was very rainy and cloudy, so we didn't make it outside again.

A quiet morning activity...Ryu found the perfect ledge for all of his cars/trucks. Grandma, Ryu, Kenji and I went for a long walk Tuesday morning. Ryu spent part of the time in the stroller and the rest of the time out walking with us. Lately, he's been fascinated with flags and pinwheels. And there were lots of them to admire on our walk. Kenji had a nice snooze in his baby carrier.

We headed to the Elizabethan Gardens on Wednesday morning/early afternoon. Ryu had a great time running around. Naturally, he did all the things you aren't supposed to do in the garden. He picked flowers, pulled out the marker signs, attempted to pull out lights along the path and sampled a berry from one of the shrubs (luckily it wasn't poisonous - we double-checked with the staff). Kenji behaved himself and enjoyed the walk in the stroller. We made it home before the rain started for the afternoon...that's been a pattern this week.

And here's Ryu walking along the path with one of the garden markers.

We went back to the beach on Thursday morning. It wasn't as windy as it was on Monday, thankfully.  Ryu chased the seagulls and sandpipers and was disappointed when he couldn't catch them. He tossed seashells into the water, did some digging with beach toys and played in the water, of course. He was shivering, but kept wanting to go back in. Kenji slept in the baby carrier the whole time...as usual.

It's been raining all day today, so unfortunately we haven't been able to get out of the house. We can't even get in the hot tub because there's no roof over it! I was able to take advantage of Ryu's naps and get in a couple times this week, though.  This is what Ryu has been doing today...

We head out of town tomorrow, and it looks like we'll be in for some more rain on our travels.

  1. Looks pretty but wet. A change of location is always fun even if you can't get out much. Ryu really likes the water too. Didn't see John fishing there, was there a better spot?
