Halloween activities

We started our Halloween fun by going to a nearby pumpkin patch/corn maze the weekend before Halloween.  John's sister, Vil, came along, as did our friend Robin and her son, Enzo. The farm had lots of other activities including a carousel, underground slide and cow train (little cars pulled by a lawn mower). They had some animals, too. Ryu especially liked the horse ("neigh" is one of the animal noises he makes). We didn't notice any other kids dressed up, but my monkey and banana got lots of compliments on their outfits!

Then, our town had its Halloween fest just a few days before actual Halloween. Ryu was a bit puzzled by all the people and activities at first, but was ready to play after about an hour (naturally when his Mom and Grandma were hungry and ready to go home, and when his friend Enzo showed up!) Many businesses on Main Street opened to give out candy. Ryu was not interested in the candy, though. He only wanted to see the balloons outside each store :) Other activities included the cake-walk (I won a cupcake - yum), bobbing for apples off a tree, and throwing beanbags at ghosts in the trees.

I took Ryu out in the stroller around the neighborhood on Halloween. None of his neighborhood buddies were around, and he wasn't interested in going up to houses to look at decorations or get candy. So, it was a quick outing. He did like seeing people come to our door to get candy, though.

Kenji slept through a lot of the Halloween activities or just hung out in his infant seat/stroller looking cute. Here's some recent video of him in his ExerSaucer and in his crib (drool and all). He'll be 5 months old in just a few days! And it's about 3 weeks until Ryu's 2nd birthday.
