Outer Banks trip

Ryu went on his first trip to the Outer Banks from June 14th to 21st. We weren't sure how he would do on the long drive, but he was an angel and was either content or asleep the whole way! There was really no traffic to speak of either.

We arrived early (before the rental house was ready for us), so we just hung around outside and waited for the all-clear inside. We had a full house (12 in all - including Grandma and Grandpa K, Aunt Vil and Uncle Mac).

We were at the beach most days, naturally, but we also went to the soundside, relaxed in the hot tub, and did some shopping. And we ate way too much...thanks to Grandma K :).

When Aunt Vil and I took Ryu to the beach for the first time he was pretty sleepy, so we didn't stay too long. He cooperated for some pictures, though.

Ok - so Ryu's hat is a bit big....

Here's the happy guy in his ExerSaucer - one of his main activities back at the house, aside from eating and sleeping!

We tried the beach with Ryu again the day before leaving. We stayed for about an hour and he had a great time. The weather was great and the water was calm and warm.

He loved reaching for the water and sand!

Ryu even caught his first fish (well, a sandshark actually). He touched John's rod and when John checked it he could tell there was something on his hook. First time fisherman's luck?

Heading home is always hard, but this trip was especially difficult. Ryu was coming down with his first cough/cold and was cranky for part of the way. And we had to take a long detour due to lots of accidents on 64. Quite a difference from the trip down.
